Supreme Court Rules Against Bush and the EPA

EPA stance on Global warming defeated by the Supreme courtIn a surprise 5-4 ruling on Monday, the supreme court ruled against the Bush administration's environmental policy, stating that the EPA does have the regulatory powers to curb greenhouse gas emissions that fuel global warming. For quite some time the EPA has refused to implement any plan that would regulate greenhouse gas emissions of carbon dioxide and other gasses from new vehicles sold in the us, because they claimed that carbon dioxide did not fall under any class of pollutant. The court defeated the EPA stance by declaring that CO2 met the law's description of a pollutant.

The Bush administration's failed stance of of self-regulation has long stood unopposed because of the expert fear mongering that implies federally mandated controls will hurt the economy in the long run. The administration was right, it will hurt the economy - of oil and power companies.

The ruling marks the first high court ruling on Global Warming and opens the door for states to force the EPA to act on regulation and enforcement, to push legislation that will create statewide greenhouse emission caps.

Everybody's Weather :: Global Climate and Weather

Man's impact on the global climate is the biggest danger that the human race faces today. We as a species have to overcome many preconceived notions to face this dilemma and we should know a few things about our enemy. The climate sees no borders, and does not discriminate based on politcal beliefs, religion, skin color, or sexuality, and will surely affect all of us in ways that we cannot imagine in the years to come.

Thing are happening on this planet right now that have dire consequences of for all humans. Accelerating Polar Ice Melt, the deforestation of the Amazon Basin and other large tropical forests, rising sea surface temperatures, massive coral die-offs, droughts, floods and stronger hurricanes are all interconnected and seem to be spinning out of control. For us to really make a difference in our affect on Global Climate Change, we are all going to have to work together as a species.
